2000 HdV Chardonnay (Hyde Vineyard)

The extreme maturity of the Ancien Block selection shows in the floral honey and yellow peach bouquet. Balanced harmoniously with the Ancien, our ClartÈ Block brings a note of acidity that creates the structure and freshness that we believe is so important to a chardonnay.

HdV - 2000 Chardonnay, Hyde Vineyard
"Bright fruit notes with a wonderful concentration of earth and mushroom flavors. This wine has a lush texture and soft plush finish. It is an extremely well balanced wine with the acidity that will reward cellaring."

HdV Chardonnay Carneros 2000: Beautifully crafted, sleek, rich and refined, with a tight, elegant beam of spicy pear, honey and fresh, clean earth. Tapered on the finish, where the flavors are long and detailed. Nary a trace of oak in this classy debut Chardonnay from HdV. Drink now through 2007.

Light yellow color. Very fragrant and fine in the nose, with unusual delicacy and nuance for a California Chardonnay. Silky in texture, full bodied, and very long on the palate, with wonderful persistence. It tastes of peach, honey, apple, lemon peel, and hazelnut, with light floral overtones. From vines yielding 1ton/acre.

"California's Best of 2003"
"HdV, 2000 Carneros (Chardonnay of the Year): Debut release from the partnership of the Hyde family of Carneros and the Villaine family of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti fame, this is a lovingly crafted, sleek, elegant Chardonnay with aromas of creamy citrus, apple, pear, and shy spice with hints of peach, vanilla, and minerals. Creamy without being cloying, the wine is rich and deeply flavorful, tasting of the fruit announced by the nose and accented by subtle spice and minerality. Poised, focused and impeccably balanced with no one element intruding, this fully integrated Chardonnay seems more Burgundian in its finesse and understatement than Californian."
