DOUBLE BARREL
Since HdV’s inception in 2000, our philosophy has never waivered: produce wines that best represent a single vineyard terroir. Undeniably, the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon embodies all of the cool climate characteristics that make Hyde Vineyard so special. Hidden in two barrels, spanning two years, with an additional three years of bottle age, this wine is the quintessential vineyard representation.
VINTAGE NOTES
The 2005 vintage in Los Carneros was cool and slow paced. After an early budbreak in the middle of March, Hyde Vineyard experienced wet weather in May and June. Summer continued with moderate weather thanks to the San Pablo Bay fog influence. From maturation through harvest, days were sunny and mild, allowing Cabernet Sauvignon flavors to develop gradually.
WINEMAKER NOTES
There are intense and complex notes of mocha, sweet spice and black fruit. The palate begins with a supple entry carried by a velvety, seamless and lingering texture that is fresh and balanced. As the wine settles and evolves in the glass, floral notes accompany flavors of raspberry and cranberry.
