2010 Cabernet Sauvignon

Since HdV’s inception in 2000, our philosophy has never waivered: produce wines that best represent a single vineyard terroir. For the second time since our inception, we have produced a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Undeniably, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon embodies all of the cool climate characteristics that make Hyde Vineyard so special. Hidden in two barrels, spanning two years, with an additional year of bottle age, this wine is the quintessential vineyard representation and set apart from any other Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Late spring showers, ultimately delaying budbreak and lengthening flowering, marked an atypical 2010 vintage at Hyde Vineyard. Consistent and warm summer weather followed providing a slow and steady fruit development. September came with an 'Indian Summer,' however Cabernet Sauvignon is a durable grape that carries itself well during heat spikes. Furthermore, every individual cluster was inspected by hand while any visible sunburn was subsequently "clipped" off. The warmth in combination with meticulous cluster inspection was further reason why we were able to bottle a wine of such unique character.
