De la Guerra

From inception, HdV has had one mandate, create wines that capture the true essence of the vineyard and deliver it to the glass…no exceptions. We strive to reach this goal in each vintage because it is our belief that an unadulterated expression of exceptional terroir is what separates good wines from truly great wines.

de la Guerra Chardonnay

In celebration of the early years of the Hyde family’s winemaking history, we are proud to reintroduce the de la Guerra Chardonnay.

In the early 19th century, the Hyde family patriarch Don Jose de la Guerra y Noriega built the adobe “Casa de la Guerra” in Santa Barbara, California, where he was serving as “Comandante” of the mission. The “casa” served as the social, cultural, and political epicenter of Santa Barbara throughout the early 1800s.

While hosting legendary fiestas, the de la Guerra family began making wine, which would eventually receive a gold medal at the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Fair. We celebrate these early years of California winemaking tradition with our de la Guerra Chardonnay.
